‘Lack’ is a verb

‘Lack’ means having less than is needed. We do not use ‘of’ when lack is a verb.

▪️I lack the money to buy a house.   

▪️He lacks the strength to be a boxer.

▪️Jupiter and Saturn lack the conditions to make them liveable. 

 

‘A lack of’ is used a noun

Lack can also be a noun when we use  ‘A lack of + the thing that is missing’.

▪️I have a lack of money. I cannot buy a house.

▪️He has a lack of strength. He can never be a boxer.

▪️Jupiter and Saturn have a lack of oxygen. People can never live there.
